- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Dr. Laura Edgington-Mitchell obtained her PhD in Cancer Biology from Stanford University in California in 2012. Studying under Dr. Matthew Bogyo, she specialised in synthesising chemical probes to study proteases involved in cell death and cancer. She applied these probes to non-invasively image apoptosis in tumour-bearing mice that had received chemotherapy. In 2013, she initiated postdoctoral studies with Dr. Belinda Parker in the biochemistry department at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. She is currently applying these chemical tools to study the contribution of proteases to metastatic breast cancer with the overarching goal of developing new therapies.
