Arthur Wiliam (Bill) Musk

Bill Musk has been a fulltime respiratory physician at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (1978-2013) and part time respiratory physician until 2017. He has been Clinical Professor of Medicine and Population Health at the University of Western Australia since 1992. He graduated MBBS from UWA in 1967, MSc (Occupational Health) from Harvard School of Public Health in 1977 and MD from UNSW in 1987. He has FRACP, FAFOEM and FCCP. With training in clinical and occupational respiratory medicine, epidemiology and public health, and as an early anti-smoking activist his research interests have been in clinical, epidemiological and preventive aspects of lung disease, particularly occupational and environmental lung diseases related to Wittenoom blue asbestos workers and residents, Kalgoorlie goldminers, smoking and in the Busselton population studies. He has a longstanding history of providing medical-legal information for patients pursuing compensation for asbestos-related diseases. He is an ex-president and now life member of the Australian Council on Smoking and Health and of the Busselton Population Research Institute. In 2011 he was awarded the Research Medal of TSANZ and in 2009 he was awarded the inaugural Tim Willoughby Medal for Research of the National for Centre for Asbestos Related Diseases. In 1992 he was awarded Membership of the Order of Australia for services to medicine in the areas of asbestos related diseases and smoking control.
